Lutheran Social Services (LSS)
The Lutheran Welfare Council was formed in 1945 to act as a social service group supported by Lutheran denominations of the area. The group supplied a broad range of programs and was a big advocate for social reform to help those in need. By 1967, the Lutheran Welfare Service and the Lutheran Child and Family Services organizations merged to become Lutheran Social Services (LSS).
LSS went on to secure agreements for transitional shelter, prevention of child abuse, and substance abuse prevention. This program continues to serve more than 1,200 people with special needs.
The LSS provide programs that include case management and housing services for emancipated former foster care youth, case management in transitional and permanent supportive housing sites, money management services, disaster preparation, and long-term disaster response services in the event of a local disaster.
Lutheran Social Services offers the hope of lives transformed to all people of all faiths (or no faith) who are without housing, clothing, food, and or the basic necessities of people. The mission of LSS is to provide services to the mass public. Lutheran Social Services helps individuals and families to balance their through providing compassionate guidance and support services.
